A few weeks before Christmas we went to the Applebees on base. Giuliana’s brother Salvatore and his girlfriend Manuela were in town from Sicily and wanted some ‘American’ food. Although not the best American food, that is what is available to us. Salvatore sent me a few pictures from the lunch that I thought I would post.
We attended Giada’s Baptism… I was able to snap a couple of pictures before she got upset. Keegan remained very serious through the ceremony as he watched. Afterward we enjoyed pranza at La Taverna.
We ventured out today on the first non-rainy day in over a week to visit downtown Napoli. It did end up raining in the late afternoon, but we were able to take advantage of the weather long enough to shop around and eat a late lunch at a famous pizzeria, Brandi. Keegan took his first ride on the metro… he seemed to enjoy it!
Mom, Keegan and I went to Pompeii today. It was much warmer than when Josh and I went in February!!!
some people were wondering what a menu looks like at a restaurant here. fyi-most of the places we go do not even have menus… they just bring you plate after plate of food! this restaurant i am a big fan of. anyone who visits will get to go here! molto squisito !!

We took a day trip to Sorrento and Keegan enjoyed himself. As always, he was happy to snooze and be along for the ride!!!
Today we went to the 2008 International Charity Bazaar at the NATO base here in Naples. The Bazaar raises money to support 21 needy organizations. There were many different participating countries, such as Greece, Spain, UK, Germany, Italy, etc. The best part in my opinion… the food! Naples has nothing but Italian food, so it was a treat to get some traditional food from other countries. There were also many, many vendors selling goodies. Josh and I walked away with only a new bottle of Sicilian olive oil and a decanter from Slovakia. That was a challenge! We could have easliy spent so much more.
Here are a couple of pictures. Keegan enjoyed himself… well he really doesn’t care where we are. He is content and sleeps like a champ!
I was sitting around this afternoon when I heard a weird popping noise outside. I wasn’t too concerned because we are used to hearing fireworks set off. After about 10 minutes I looked out the window.. and there was a raging fire. Hmmmm, what do I do? It occurred to me that I had no idea how to contact the Naples fire department. Like every other Italian that had noticed the fire, I just stood there and watched. Somewhat unfazed by the blaze only feet from my house, after about 15 minutes I started to wonder if I should take Rosco and get the heck out of here. Nahhh, I just stood there taking pictures. Crazy how I would just stand there! But, I figured if there was a real threat the Italians would have left my neighborhood. Curious to see what would happen, I remained outside on my balcony for the 45 minutes it took a teeny little fire truck to arrive. All in all, it was very interesting. If Josh were here he would have loved to have watched this go down.
