Our London Trip

Filed under: London — laurenwenker @ 11:09 am

We are back from our London trip! We had a great time visiting with Sarah, Marty, the kids… and we also got to see Catie (Hall) while we were there. It was nice to see some familiar faces!

Our first full day Marty took us around London on a tour bus. That was neat because we got to see the popular sights of London. We were able to experience our first round of fish and chips.

The second day we went shopping on Oxford Street, which is a popular area with a lot of great stores. The only bad thing….sticker shock! The pound is worth 2 times the amount of the american dollar. So, a normal pair of shoes would be twice as expensive for us to buy something. So, needless to say, we did not buy much. We did try our second round of fish and chips for lunch. My overall impression was good about the London fish and chips….but the best I have ever had was in Vancouver. I was hoping to beat that expectation, but I guess I will have to go back to Vancouver some day for fantastic fish and chips….(Kendall are you up for that? 🙂 )

Friday night we got to meet up with Catie for dinner. We went to an Indian restaurant. We LOVE Indian food! It was a nice treat…especially since we can’t get Indian food in Italy. It was great to catch up with Catie…and we will get to see more of her in about 2 months. Catie will be coming to visit Italy with Lindsey.

Oh, and I should mention that Josh loved this trip because he was able to drink lots of beer at pubs with Marty…

Saturday was my favorite day. We were able to check out Covent Garden (where they have street performers), although there were not many performers that day. The highlight was seeing WICKED 🙂 We went to a matinee performance at the Apollo Victoria theatre. For those who like musicals, or even if you don;t, this show is a must. One of the best I have ever seen. Josh, who typically loathes musicals, loved this show.

Saturday night we went to dinner at a Belgian restaurant. The food was awesome. Anyone who goes to visit Sarah & Marty…have them take you there!

So, although we had a short trip it was action-packed. The time ended up being perfect for everything we wanted to see. Here are some pics (if you click on each little picture, it will enlarge):
